Bounds on Generalized Linear Predictors with Incomplete Outcome Data

چکیده

This paper develops easily computed, tight bounds on Generalized Linear Predictors and instrumental variable estimators when outcome data are partially identi…ed. A salient example is given by Best Linear Predictors under square loss, or Ordinary Least Squares regressions, with missing outcome data, in which case the setup specializes the more general but intractable problem examined by Horowitz et al. [9]. The result is illustrated by re-analyzing the data used in that paper. I am indebted to Chuck Manski for his guidance and feedback and to two anonymous referees for extremely helpful suggestions. Of course, all errors are mine. Financial support through the Robert Eisner Memorial Fellowship, Department of Economics, Northwestern University, as well as a Dissertation Year Fellowship, The Graduate School, Northwestern University, is gratefully acknowledged.

Computation of Bounds on Population Parameters When the Data Are Incomplete

This paper continues our research on the identification and estimation of statistical functionals when the sampling process produces incomplete data due to missing observations or interval measurement of variables. Incomplete data usually cause population parameters of interest in applications to be unidentified except under untestable and often controversial assumptions. However, it is often p...

An active set algorithm to estimate parameters in generalized linear models with ordered predictors

In biomedical studies, researchers are often interested in assessing the association between one or more ordinal explanatory variables and an outcome variable, at the same time adjusting for covariates of any type. The outcome variable may be continuous, binary, or represent censored survival times. In the absence of precise knowledge of the response function, using monotonicity constraints on ...

Functional generalized linear models with images as predictors.

Functional principal component regression (FPCR) is a promising new method for regressing scalar outcomes on functional predictors. In this article, we present a theoretical justification for the use of principal components in functional regression. FPCR is then extended in two directions: from linear to the generalized linear modeling, and from univariate signal predictors to high-resolution i...

Identification of common predictors of surgical outcomes for epilepsy surgery

Although epilepsy surgery is an effective treatment for patients with drug-resistant epilepsy, surgical outcomes vary across patient groups and studies. Identification of reliable prognostic factors for surgical outcome is important for outcome research. In this study, recent systematic reviews and meta-analyses on prediction of seizure outcome have been analyzed, and common predictors of seizu...

Multiple Linear Regressions by Maximizing the Likelihood under Assumption of Generalized Gauss-Laplace Distribution of the Error

Multiple linear regression analysis is widely used to link an outcome with predictors for better understanding of the behaviour of the outcome of interest. Usually, under the assumption that the errors follow a normal distribution, the coefficients of the model are estimated by minimizing the sum of squared deviations. A new approach based on maximum likelihood estimation is proposed for findin...
